WHAT BUSINESSES ARE CONSIDERED ESSENTIAL IN REGARDS TO THE CORONAVIRUS EXECUTIVE ORDERS?

I continued my coverage of the legal issues surrounding government responses to the coronavirus pandemic with a video today discussing Gov. Lamont's recent executive orders concerning suspending certain statutes and business operations. I also discuss where the emergency authority of governors and local officials derive. After I posted the video, the Department of Economic and Community Development clarified the the essential industriesexempt from the closure order. Legal services, package stores, gun and ammo dealers, tax prep, medical marijuana dispensaries, trucking, hardware and many other categories are considered essential.
